TAIDEKAAVA (The Art Plan)
|
Art plan (Taidekaava) explores how an artistic way of thinking can be integrated into the first step of regional development, planning. The project goal is to produce an easy to approach "package" and database with public artworks and budgets aimed at officers and decision makers working in/with municipalities in particular.
A major goal of the art plan is to encourage professional artists and art lovers to demand art for their shared environments. Public art does not appear out of thin air. It has to be demanded if it is wanted. Positive effects of the integration of art into the planning process: + marketing of new plots and living area + involving the locals into the creation of artwork + property value development + areal safety and cleanliness development + integrating art into technical drawings to create outstanding artistic content + straight economical benefits through possible initiatives The working period is supported by the Kone Foundation (Koneen Säätiö) which aims to advance bold initiatives in research and the arts in Finland. The development of the process can be tracked and commented on twitter through hashtag #taidekaava (tweets in Finnish). Mapping potential new places in a selected area and visioning the possibilities to create inspiring public and artistic spaces.
